Accessibility Statement

The Internationales Design Zentrum Berlin e. V. (hereinafter “IDZ” or “we”) wants everyone to be able to find, use and understand the website https://idz.de easily – regardless of disability, age or the technology they use. Good design excludes no one: the standard we advocate in our work also applies to our own digital services.

Scope

This statement applies to the website www.idz.de, including all subpages, and to the services offered through it – in particular event registrations, membership enquiries, newsletter sign-up and competition submissions. The provider is IDZ | International Design Center Berlin e. V., Hagelberger Straße 52, 10965 Berlin, Germany.

This statement was prepared on 30 October 2026. We review and update it as needed, at least once a year and after any significant change to the website.

Applicable requirements

The benchmark is conformance level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, as made binding by the harmonised European standard EN 301 549.

The requirements derive from Directive (EU) 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services (“European Accessibility Act”, EAA). In Germany, the directive is implemented by the Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) and its implementing ordinance (BFSGV). The obligation to publish this information follows from Section 14(1) BFSG in conjunction with Annex 3 to the BFSG.

Accordingly, the website must be designed so that its content is

  • perceivable – information and interface components are presented in ways all users can perceive,
  • operable – navigation and controls work with different input methods, such as a keyboard alone,
  • understandable – content and operation are clear and easy to follow,
  • robust – content is reliably interpreted by browsers and assistive technologies such as screen readers.
