Katja Runge is a communications specialist, TV journalist and mother of a daughter. In October 2012, she initiated a "Children's Room" as a pilot project at the Festival für Design Leipzig, Designers’ Open – with meaningful, creative toys and children's furniture by 22 international designers and manufacturers. The overwhelmingly positive response from visitors and exhibitors proved: there is a great demand for meaningful, functional, durable and aesthetic design for children. In May 2013, Katja Runge founded afilii - international hub & platform for child-friendly design.
