Berlin Design Week 2022
A physical BNDNWK is planned again for 2022, and will be accompanied by an online program. The guiding theme is “Higher Purpose”.
How will we shape our future? Like many others, we have been asking ourselves over the past year what path to take after the Corona crisis. We believe that now is the time for transformational change and new perspectives.
The great challenge of our time is to develop concepts that reduce our consumption – and with it our production, use of resources, and pollution – while improving our quality of life in a sustainable way. In doing so, we must consider different aspects: Environmental and climate protection, social equity, the economy, global networks and connectivity. What we need is innovation in production and the economy that does not compete with this idea – creativity is not limited to design, it also applies to science and technology.
As such, design can observe, mediate and provide solutions, it can define problems and also solve them. With this year's focus Higher Purpose, you are invited to think and define this "better future" and present ideas on how we can make it happen.
The application deadline is 18. March 2022. All information on the application process, selection criteria and costs can be found on our website, under APPLY.

German Ecodesign Award | Online Talk “There is another way”
How does sustainable consumption succeed?
In our online talk, three winners of the German Ecodesign Award show how sustainable consumption can succeed. We talk to them about the role design plays in solving current challenges and how their projects have developed since receiving the Ecodesign Award. In addition, Lisa Frien-Kossolobow, expert for sustainable consumption at the German Environment Agency, will explain the environmental consequences of our consumption decisions and what we can do in our everyday lives. Afterwards, there will be a moderated exchange between the speakers and the audience.
The talk will take place as part of SPOTLIGHT ON. The series of events of the German Ecodesign Awards focuses on former winning projects and their underlying themes in lectures, talks and workshops.
The talk is free of charge and will be held in German.
Touring exhibition "Future is now!"
