“Designing is: perceiving, engaging, making visible, participating, process, proportion, fairness and disruption, and doing so with ecological common sense.” That’s how Christa Fischer, our November 2021 Member of the Month, sums up the philosophy of her office c. fischer innenarchitekten.
“We are not classic interior designers!” she says at the very beginning of our conversation. Instead, she says, the office’s work is primarily about function-driven interior design, that is, public uses with very specific needs and requirements. The design develops in a processual manner, always starting from previous careful analyses of the action - “from architecture to action, the product, the writing, all the way to the details.” In the interview, she presents some of her favorite projects, including the conversion of the Gutenberg Gymnasium in Erfurt and the Erik Spiekermann’s Townhouse in Berlin.
