Our IDZ Member of the Month for April 2022 is Benita Braun-Feldweg, who heads the architecture firm bfstudio-architekten together with her husband Matthias Muffert.
"We are interested in projects with socio-political relevance," explains Benita Braun-Feldweg in an interview, "We sound out how architecture, design space, the city can come together in order to develop projects from them ourselves - and to set themes ourselves."
This is how the concept of the Metropolenhäuser was born almost 15 years ago, of which there are now three in Berlin. The Metropolenhaus at the Jewish Museum, completed in 2018, comes closest to the architects' social-communicative intention. A central role is played by the first floor, which - carefully curated - links the house to the city. This is not only a place to live and work, but also a place for temporary exhibitions, workshops and creative formats - in pursuit of sustainable and social district development.
