Susanne Schwarz-Raacke studied Industrial Design at the HfbK Hamburg and graduated with a diploma. She worked as an artistic assistant at the University of Hanover/Institute for Industrial Design and the Berlin University of the Arts, as well as freelancing. In the design team of Ascom Business Systems Ag in Solothurn/Switzerland, she designed products in the field of telecommunications and automation. She was a member of the project team for the foundation and development of the design department at the FhAargau, later FHNW in Basel. From 2004 - 2021 she was Professor of Design Fundamentals and Product Design in the Product Design department at Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. Here she was also co-founder and part of the cross-disciplinary research focus greenlab.
Her designs have been awarded numerous design prizes, including the Bundespreis Gute Form, IF, Design Preis Schweiz.
She has been a member of various juries and is on the advisory board of the German Ecodesign Award.
