How can sustainability be integrated into the design and functionality of objects? In what way are designers able to contribute to the success of sustainable development? Along with Goethe-Institute Taipei, IDZ presented the exhibition »German Shades of Green | Sustainable Design from Germany« at the Taiwan Design Expo in 2010 to focus on these questions. In this context, German examples of creative and sustainable design ranging from product to communication and fashion design were shown. The various products and concepts were visualized and explained by projections.
The exhibition illustrated how sustainability can be implemented into design and how design can significantly contribute to sustainable development: with a sensible choice of materials, efficient use of energy and local, social as well as fair production. The various examples show the designers' influence and responsibility to take economic, environmental and social aspects of their work into consideration to create future-oriented products and concepts.
