Berlin Design Week
BNDNWK will take place in 2021 under the motto "New Traditions" with a hybrid program of exhibitions, showrooms, workshops and the OPEN STUDIO NIGHTS.
Every spring, BERLIN DESIGN WEEK presents new thinking and design approaches that envision and shape our future. New challenges set new standards: Digitally and physically, the current theme of the BERLIN DESIGN WEEK "NEW TRADITIONS" is taken up more than ever in its diverse formats.
Crises require a discourse for forward-looking strategies. Clear, sustainable and trend-setting design can usher in a new normality. Business, research and decision-makers need the creative power of design, its fresh ideas, new strategies and concepts for a society in transition and vice versa.
From the opening with the showrooms at Bikini Berlin, the DESIGN POOL, to the closing highlight, the OPEN STUDIO NIGHTS, the BNDNWK offers a variety of formats. Exhibitions, showrooms, talks and guided tours to workshops, screenings and conferences enliven the design world over eleven days at various locations in Berlin and online.
Designers, artists, studios, cultural institutions, universities and companies can still apply to participate in the curated program 2021 until March 31.

In his lecture "The Inconvenience Space - The Future of Parting" Henrik Rieß asks the question: How can we design goodbye?
In his course "The Future of Farewell" at FH Potsdam, Henrik Rieß explored possible future perspectives on the design of of farewell and the associated social consequences with students. To lessen the gravity of the topic and to be able to talk about wishes, hopes and fears, they projected the topic of farewell into different futures with new technological possibilities and changed social norms.
Among others, projects by Rosa-Sophie Hamburger, Lena Hoffmann, Maryna Honcharenko, Peter Schwarz, Gesine Tränhardt and Lena Zagora will be shown.
Henrik Rieß is a Creative Director with over 15 years of expe-rience in UX and applied Design Research. As a lecturer for Interaction Design, Design Thinking and Speculative Design, he works with students on socially relevant issues in the so-called "Inconvenience Space".
Please note: The presentation will be held in German!
