Together with the designers Ineke Hans, Mark Braun and Herman Weizenegger Katrin Krupka is the co-initiator and also the coordinator of German Design Graduates (GDG). The networking platform was founded in 2019 to help design graduates launch their careers.
As a product designer, she works at the intersection of design, material and process technology with a focus on innovative and sustainable materials. In studies and experiments, she uncovers potentials and application areas of materials and technologies, both alone and in collaboration with other designers. The Berlin-based designer designs material and designs with material. For her case studies, she cooperates, for example, with möve GmbH, Kinnasand and research institutions such as the Saxon Textile Research Institute, BASF Designfabrik and the University of Porto.
Most recently, she exhibited the Terra Tale project in cooperation with Italian designer Caterina Plenzick at the Contemporary Arts Centre in the Azores at the end of 2020.
Since 2015, Katrin Krupka has taught at various universities, such as UDK Berlin, Burg Giebichenstein and Berlin International. In October 2019 she has taken over the substitute professorship 'Material und Umwelt' at the Bauhaus University Weimar.
